Meet Dr. Durden
Phillip H. Durden, DMD, MAGD, FAACP

Dr. Durden was born in Athens, Georgia and grew up in the surrounding area. His father's family owned the Durden Music Store in downtown Athens for more than 50 years and his mother's family once owned the telephone company, Empire Telephone, that serviced most of Madison and Oglethorpe Counties, including Winterville.
Dr. Durden graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. While attending the university, he played trumpet in the University of Georgia Redcoat Band and was a member of the Premedical Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta. He completed his dental education with honors at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1989 and opened his Athens area dental practice in August of that same year. He is a member of the Winterville Civitan Club and enjoys being involved in the community.
Dr. Durden and the Winterville Dental team are dedicated to life-long learning, spending countless hours each year participating in courses on dental restorative techniques including full mouth rehabilitation, dental implants, TMJ and obstructive sleep disorders, craniofacial pain, and orthodontics. He uses a multi-disciplinary approach to dental medicine improving the health and wellness of all patients. Complimented by a genuine interest in people, general dentist Dr. Phillip Durden's philosophy of conservative and comprehensive dental care is supported by a friendly, knowledgeable team of professionals ensuring a compassionate approach to treatment.
Dr. Phillip Durden is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. He is past President of the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry and is also a member of the International Association for Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Georgia Dental Association, as well as a founding member of the Athens Dentofacial Interdisciplinary Study Club.
Dr. Durden and his wife, Janine, enjoy spending time at the lake and traveling when time allows. Recently, Dr. Durden has pursued a life-long interest in aviation by obtaining his private pilot license. His hobby now includes taking friends and family up for a ride whenever he can and is looking constantly for new exciting missions to complete. He and his wife have two children, Suzanne and Craig. Suzanne is a recent graduate of the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications with a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising. Craig recently graduated from the University of North Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Spatial Analysis.
